This page describes email options at SoAustin.net.

Our email? Or your email?

It's up to you. One of the reasons we started up soaustin.net was to handle our own email. So, we like to consider ourselves experts at it. But, it won't hurt our feelings if you don't want to use it.

Basically, you have one of several choices:

• Use your own, preexisting email account (we do nothing).
• Receive email through us, but forward it to your own, preexisting email account.
• Receive all your email directly through us.

If you are receiving email through us, and we are also hosting your domain, your email address will be yourname@yourdomain. Otherwise, it'll be yourname@soaustin.net.

So why have us do it?

• If we're maintaining yourdomain for you already (e.g. for a web site), you may want to be identified as yourname@yourdomain just so people can remember how to reach you more easily.
• We aggressively identify sources of unsolicited commercial email (more popularly known as junk-mail or "spam"), and allow you to never have to see them again. As the spam problem gets worse and worse, this option may sound better and better to you.
