Thanks to all of you for coming to the meeting last night: Chip, Richard,
Tim, Brenda, Ivonne, Niresh, Carmen. (Steve and Carlos were both excused).
It was a very successful meeting when we formally welcomed three new
instructors: Brenda Loya Centeno, Ivonne Farfan-Riojas, and Niresh Sastry
who have all volunteered recently in the Center. In addition to setting up
the schedule, we talked about trying out a new method, suggested by Richard
Workman, to control the number of people signing up for classes to avoid
overcrowding the classroom when too many people are on the waiting list.
We also discussed the problem of Spanish-speaking students who sign up and
never show up or let us know they won't be attending the classes. Now that
we have the luxury of several first-class bilingual teachers we must share
their expertise with the people who most need it. We also learned about the
problems with the room and the computer "mice". We will order new optical
mice for the computers and check with Facilities Services about climate
control as it gets very hot and stuffy with a room full of people.
Attached is the schedule and could you check your assignments and let me
know if there is a problem.
My sincere thanks to you all for your interest and enthusiasm.
