[Katrina-IT-Volunteers] FEMA / small business administration (SBA)

One thing I learned on Wednesday afternoon and forgot to send to the
list (sorry!): if you check on the status of a FEMA application
on-line and see that it is pending and has been referred to the Small
Business Administration (SBA), this may not be a mistake. I was told
by an SBA representative (they had a table around the corner and down
the hall from where FEMA was set up) that even if there is no
"business" activity, SBA could be involved in cases dealing with
people's homes (particularly renters, or people without insurance, if
I recall correctly). She also said that an SBA application would have
to be completed before the FEMA application could proceed. Instead of
waiting for the SBA application in the mail, evacuees can fill it out
with the SBA representatives at the center (assuming they are still
there).
If you have heard differently or have additional information, please share.
