[Katrina-IT-Volunteers] FW: Computer clocks not set correctly

Edward and everyone - AMD is going to try to fix the computer clocks - maybe
as early as this evening (Thursday). Also they ran a patch to the program
that connects to that problematic e-mail button on the computers that should
have disabled it. Hopefully this will keep folks from trying to use it.

Dale,

No worries about the name mismatch. I will plan to stop by the convention
center after work tomorrow and look into the problematic web site
(laworks.net) and the issue with the time. In addition, the patch to
eliminate the email program from running when an email address is clicked
should have been updated. I wanted to check the machines to see if this
patch is working.

After a better understanding of these two issues, then I can discuss with
the developers of the PIC and see what can be done to resolve these issues.

Kevin

Ann and Kevin - can we fix this? There was a volunteer from AMD there
tonight and I forgot to mention it. I made a typo in Ann's address last
night when I copied her to my reply below. Dale

Thanks Edward. I will let AMD know we're experience this. Unfortunately,
I'm just now getting to check my e-mails and Kevin Rogers who works for AMD
was going to be volunteering tonight between 6 and 8 - or I would have asked
him to check it out when he came in. Dale

On my last shift there was a person who could not fill out a job
application because it prompted him to enter in the dates that he had
worked, but the clock on the computer was set to something like Feb. 2, 2005
so it wouldn't let him fill out the form because the computer was indicating
the dates he worked were in the future. I corrected the computer clock and
it fixed the problem for this individual, but I am not sure if the clocks
are automatically reset (to some wrong date/time) when the computers are
rebooted. This may also be a problem if people are filling out other forms
where (what the computer thinks) is the current date is automatically filled
in. In this case, it might not be caught and cause who knows what kind of
bureaucratic issues. Just something for us to look for and be aware of.
