The most important thing is to be flexible. Expect the situation to
change. Bring a print-out of your schedule.

**Is there any kind of orientation or should new volunteers expect to
hit
the ground running? There should be others around that have been
working, at least, the previous shift. I think that's what the Shift
Leaders are for. Try to find someone like that before you get started.
Also as noted in a previous e-mail it's good to know where the chaplains
and counselors are located before you start.

When you get there find the computer section and just start asking
anyone who looks like a volunteer. There is a desk with name tag labels
to use so people know you are a volunteer. Everyone has been really
friendly and will tell you what has been helpful for the evacuees.
Don't be afraid to ask people if they need help. Sometimes people will
just come up to computer area with papers in their hands and look
quizzical.

**What is parking like down there? The garage at 5th and Red River (see
above)

I haven't been there since Friday so anyone seeing this feel
free to correct any misinformation since things change so rapidly.

Convention Center parking was free (on levels 6-10). At San
Jacinto and Brazos between CChavez and 2nd street.

From Mopac: take Cesar Chavez, left on Brazos, right turn into
Convention Center Parking Garage (about half way up the block). The
volunteer check-in office in on the first floor on the corner of SanJac
and 2nd.
