[Katrina-IT-Volunteers] the second and the last time

Chris -well you're leaving just as we got it all straightened out with
the volunteer office. Why were you coming on shift at 11 p.m., though?
We have no shifts that start then. I am faxing a list to the
volunteer office each morning of all the volunteers signed up to server
through the web site. The problem lay in APD really clamping down on
security and people posing as volunteers who were really ambulance
chasers and people getting in as either volunteers or posing as evacuees
in order to get free food and sign up for benefits that they weren't
qualifed for because they weren't Katrina victims.

The City is stepping in to impose more systema in the volunteering
process and it is actually working much better the last couple of days.
Much better.

I would like to commend everyone for their work. It certainly sounds
like many people have done a lot of good.

Unfortunately, for the second time and the last time, I was turned
  away
at the desk at about 11pm when I showed up. It also happened on Labor
Day. At about 2:30, I got a call from someone else who also had a
similar experience. He got my name and number probably because he saw
  it
on the volunteer sign up web site.

I really do not want to waste any more time. I have better things to
  do.

If you do still want to help, go ever to Freescale on Ed Bleustein.
That's what I did today. You won't have any trouble volunteering over
  there.

I am also unsubscribing from this group. If I can't help, there is no
point in being on this list.
