[Katrina-IT-Volunteers] Help needed at Hearthside computer lab

Sorry - I misspoke. The Hearthside lab will only be open until 6 pm this
Friday. So the volunteering opportunity is anytime between 3 and 6.

Forgot to mention that there is ongoing volunteering opportunity at
Hearthside's lab until late December or early January when they remodel.
After they finish the remodel it will serve as an apartment complex-type
facility for very low-income and formerly homeless people - and they would
love to have lab volunteers then, too.

We only have one volunteer for Saturday and one for Sunday so far if those
days work for you. The lab will be open during these hours for the near
future:

Mondays through Thursdays, 9 a.m. - 8 p.m.
Fridays, 9 - 6 pm
Saturdays, 10 - 6
Sundays, 1 - 6

The lab coordinator there is Allison Barton, a case manager, and will be the
ongoing volunteer coordinator there (allison.barton at foundcom.org or
452-9332.

There are currently about 200 evacuees living there but those numbers will
get smaller since they are finding housing.

Last, Emily is almost finished with the evacuee computer assistance manual
(it's great with screen shots and everything!) and we will be able to e-mail
it out, plus have a printed copy for every site we set up for evacuee
housing projects.

Our next project (probably in the next week) is Huntington Meadow Apartments
on Decker Lane which has about 40 evacuee families right now. The one after
that will probably be in the Lake Travis area.

Subject: [Katrina-IT-Volunteers] Help needed at Hearthside computer lab

If anyone is available to help evacuees at the Hearthside Extended Stay
Suites on Friday, 10/14, anytime between 3 and 8 p.m., let me know. We have
a grand opening of a new computer lab there starting at 10 a.m. on Friday.
We have plenty of volunteers between 10 am and 3 pm (although we could use
one or two people who had experience at the Convention Center). We have no
volunteers after 3 pm when they expect the kids will be getting out of
school and heading to the computers in addition to the adults. Dale
