Domain Privacy

This article discusses our services to protect your privacy when we host your domain.

You must provide valid contact information when you register a domain. This includes a valid email address, postal address, and telephone number. If you fail to do so, your domain can be suspended or revoked.

The problem is that the domain contact information is public, and subject to abuse. Although it has legitimate uses, it is aggressively harvested by abusive marketers and scamsters.

To solve this problem, we offer a privacy protection service to our users. You can list our contact information for your domain. We will filter out the crap and pass along anything else. Here is how to use the service.

  • First, notify us that you wish to use the domain privacy protection service. We will charge a small annual fee ($12) for this.
  • List your email contact address as dns@mydomain. That's a standard mailbox we setup for all domains we host. It will be subject to spam and virus filtering.
  • Set your postal contact address to the Unicom Systems mailbox:
    P,O, Box 9491
    Austin, TX 78766-9491
If we receive any postal mail for you, we will shitcan the advertisements and scam mailings, and notify you via email of anything else.
  • Set your contact phone number to the Unicom Systems voicemail number: +1.815-301-8302. If we receive any phone calls to you, we will forward the message as a "real audio" format file.

These features assure the safety of your domain registration, while maintaining your personal privacy.
