How to Set Up Eudora (versions 6.2 or 7.0) EmailThis note describes the procedure to set up Eudora to work with the SoAustin.Net mail server. The procedure is illustrated with screenshots from Eudora 6.2. However, the procedure also applies to Eudora version 7.0, since the setup for the two versions is remarkably similar. Open Eudora. If this is the first time you've run Eudora, the New Account wizard starts automatically, and you can skip the next couple of steps. Otherwise, you need to run the New Account wizard. ![]() Select Tools → Personalities to open the Personalities panel. ![]() Right-click the Personalities panel and select New from the shortcut menu. The New Account wizard appears. ![]() Click the Next button. ![]() If this is the first time you've set up a Eudora email account, you will not see this step. Enter a name such as SoAustin.Net. Click the Next button. ![]() Enter your full name as you want it to appear in your outgoing email messages. Click the Next button. ![]() Enter the email address that SoAustin.Net has assigned you. Click the Next button. ![]() Verify that your username is displayed correctly. Click the Next button. ![]() Enter mail.soaustin.net as your incoming mail server. Click the Next button. ![]() Enter mail.soaustin.net as your outgoing mail server. Place a checkmark in the Allow Authentication checkbox. Click the Next button. ![]() Click the Finish button. But wait ... there's more! ![]() Right-click the personality you just created and select Properties from the shortcut menu to open the Account Settings window. ![]() Click the Generic Properties tab. Ensure that a checkmark appears in the Use submission port checkbox. Change the Secure Sockets option to Required, STARTTLS. ![]() Click the Incoming Mail tab. Change the Secure Sockets option to Required, STARTTLS. Your email account is now configured. Click the OK button to close the wizard. ![]() Click the Check Mail button to check and retrieve your email. You will be prompted for your account password. After you enter the password, you will receive an "SSL Certificate" warning. ![]() Click the Yes button to accept the certificate from our secure email server, and to prevent this message from recurring.
